Welcome!

First, I want to say thank you for coming to visit my very new, very small part of the internet. I am excited that you are here, truly!

If you didn’t catch it from the other pages on the site, my name is Ian. I am a soon-to-be 39 year old guy who loves to create. It has been a dream of mine for many years to write a book and share some of my fantastical ideas with the world. So…that is what I am doing. I figured the book wouldn’t write itself and the only way I could realize that dream was to just sit down and start writing. Here we are!

I want this blog to be a place where I capture a lot of my process, talk about cool things I am learning along the way, and to talk about some of the struggles I am sure will pop up. I am a very open person and tend to be pretty transparent, I am who I am and I don’t mind sharing most of that with the world.

I write for several reasons. First, I love creating worlds and stretching my imagination to see where it will take me. Secondly, writing is a very cathartic process for me and it is a place for me to dump things that I personally struggle with in the world. As I write this book you will see both of these manifest within the pages. There will be magic, new lands and oceans, creatures, and so on. There will also be dark political struggles, moral and ethical conflicts, and many wrongdoings and atrocities that will relate to many of the things that happen in the real world. One thing I will not do, however, is advocate for anything. I am a storyteller. There will be wonderful and joyous moments in the book and there will be hard, gut wrenching moments as well. I trust in the minds and hearts of the people with whom I will share this to decide for themselves how they feel about these things. After all, that’s what storytelling is all about…to invoke emotions and to encourage thought in a world that is safely confined to the pages of the book. I hope you choose to go on this journey with me!

I am brand new to this and I am doing this independently. It is going to be a learning process. I want to share that process with you, however, so you can gain some insight into what I am pouring into this and so that we can experience this crazy ride together.
